I don't know how or why but Kinzy and I were asked to participate in our Mother/Daughter Relief Society social by singing a duet with another mother and daughter in our ward. I have deliberately tried to keep a low profile as to my singing abilities in this ward. What can I say, I am a little intimidated not being very far from Music City USA there are a plethora of extremely talented people in our ward who really know what they are doing. With pregnancies and hormonal changes there have been times in the past seven years that I couldn't honk a note if I wanted to. I did it mostly to let Kinzy have the the wonderful opportunity of learning a piece of music and performing it. She did great as you will see and I am so proud. She faithfully and willingly practiced almost everyday for the last two and a half weeks. Right before she got really nervous but luckily Christine, the other mother performing with us, was wise enough to suggest we have a quick prayer right before, and all went very well. I reminded Kinzy about the prayer and all her efforts to prepare and that I knew she was talented and would do well, and of course she did. What an awesome Mother's Day gift. I also know my Nabrotzky and Nelson Mother's will cherish this too.
I remember the wonderful opportunity I had of singing a duet with my mother and a couple other mother's and their daughters when I was probably Kinzy same age. We sang "A Child's Prayer" for the primary program in Sacrament meeting. I will never forget the words to that song, or the feeling I felt while we sang it. It had a profound effect on me as I learned to recognize the warm and fluttering feeling of the spirit, and the power music has in bringing that spirit. What an awesome thing that Kinzy got to have a similar experience too.
