My sister Tasha is amazing. She is such a patient and loving mother and always puts her children's needs, wants and desires before her own. She is such a great example to me. For some reason Tasha's body takes some time to be ready to deliver a baby when she's pregnant, and she waits it out to prevent the possibility of a C-section which could in turn effect the amount of children she can have. She cares about this so much because she wants to have a big family with lots of children. Even more reason why I look up to her so much.
Anyway she just had her second daughter and she is so cute and such a miracle and was born one week late. Tasha was due on the day of Steve's sister wedding. I hoped and prayed Tasha would hang on and not go into labor until my mom and I could be there with her. Not that she absolutely needed it, but I really wanted to be there for moral support at the very least. We have been there for all of each other's children's births.
This particular night I suggested we go out on date with my mom and have my sister Emily watch the kids so we could have an enjoyable evening and help get Tasha's mind off how overdue she was. We decided to go to Outback to enjoy a nice dinner when while waiting to be seated Tasha started to feel really uncomfortable with contractions she'd never felt like that before. Pretty soon they were coming quicker and quicker. Tasha had scheduled an induction for Tuesday morning and here it was Saturday night and since she didn't really have much else going on to show signs of being close to labor we were all thinking Tuesday would be the day. It was hard to leave Outback hungry with our mouths watering, but we didn't want to take any chances so we quickly ran to a takeout place and got some grub and headed to the hospital.
She really was in labor! Her contractions started at about 7pm and she delivered by 11:45pm. It is amazing how quickly the process goes if you let your body go when its ready. Tasha handled it all so well. The hospital she delivered at was busy that night. My mom and I counted five other women going back as we waited for 2 hours for Tasha to get a room. She was at an 8 before we got back there with her. We prayed desparately that they wouldn't be too busy to get her an epidural, and sure enough, she got it.
Maycie is so cute and surprised us with her size, 9lbs 7oz and 21" long. Tasha's last baby was 7lbs 12ozs. Anyway, way to go Tasha & Scott, Maycie is beautiful and has two of the best parents ever.
